Nasturtium

Description

One of the quickest and easiest annuals to grow, they produce masses of vivid blooms from midsummer right through to autumn. The flowers and leaves are edible, can be used in salads for example and also can be used as cut flowers.

They need sunshine for at least half the day to grow well, a free draining soil is essential.

Also work well as a companion plant in a vegetable patch; caterpillars will feed on their leaves rather than the leaves of vegetables, whilst blackfly are also attracted to their leaves, protecting your veg from an attack from them too.
